Culminating at 820 meters above sea level, Pieter Both is the second largest mountain on the island, 8m less than the highest mountain. This peak stands majestically in the Port Louis Moka mountain range, visible from the north, west and central plateau routes. It is very popular because it keeps the gigantic rock in balance. Named after a Dutch governor general, the mountain offers a sporty hike which absolutely needs to be done with competent guides at your side. This difficult excursion with steep slopes and rock climbing is an adventure in itself. A relevant experience with a fantastic view of the four corners of the island except the south whose view is blocked by the highest mountain, Piton de la Petite Rivière Noir.
