Positioned in the north eastern lagoon of Mauritius, is one of the largest islets belonging to the country, Ile d’Ambre. Equipped with a nature walk which starts from the beach and takes you through lush forests and creepy yet majestic ruins, this inhabited island is a popular destination for tourists as well as locals. Owing to the small size of the island, feel free to explore the forest away from the beaten path, albeit at your own risk, and discover the fauna and flora as well as the other surprises found on this islet.
There are different ways to get there, some of them including kayaking in the lagoon and going through beautiful mangroves to get to the shore of the islet. Or you can even seek a lift from any fishermen happy to provide.
