Renowned as being the most popular tourist attraction of the whole island, the Seven Coloured Earths of Chamarel is an essential on the list of anyone visiting Mauritius. Origination of volcanic basalt rocks, the rain and sun transformed them into the clay minerals they are today. Due to weather conditions, the rain washed away any water soluble substance leaving only compounds which give the soil its unique colour. The different quantity of these coloured compounds is what results in the soils to have distinctly different colours. What is even more impressive is if you mix the 7 earths together, they will end up separating and re-joining their unique colour. A small souvenir shop is also found on the grounds of Chamarel where you can buy a small vial of the 7 differently coloured earths.

Towering over the south east of the island, le Morne Brabant is the majestically beautiful mountain you might have seen in many internet pictures about Mauritius. This mountain has much cultural and historical significance for the country as it was used by the slaves that would ran away from the whips of their masters and seeked shelter in the caves on the slopes. If ever these marooned slaves were about to be caught, they would jump off to their death rather than going back to their past lives. To honour the lost lives on Le Morne Brabant, UNESCO declared the mountain a National Heritage site. Take a hike on Le Morne and follow the paths once taken by the slaves to reach the top of the mountain where you will be able to seep in one of the most beautiful views of your life.

The southernmost beach of Mauritius, Gris Gris, is far from the habitual white sandy ones with a calm blue lagoon but is still magnificent albeit in a different manner. Instead of white sand, you are greeted by a rocky cliff which descends steeply into the rough sea where huge waves are king. Take a stroll along the cliffs as you watch the waves crash and send showers of water. On the furthest right end of the cliff, you are offered a panoramic view of the cliffs and waves dancing violently off them.

Found on the southern coast of Mauritius, Pont Naturel is a beautiful beach, but with a twist. The main attraction of the beach is a bridge which might appear man made but has been formed through years of huge waves beating on the volcanic rocks. Sit back and enjoy the view of the rough sea striking this magnificent natural formation surrounded by only the noise of the sea and barely any disruption.
